Black Friday 2026 is just around the corner, and with Christmas creeping ever closer, there’s a whole lot of bargain hunting to be done. High up on many a wishlist is the PlayStation 5, which often drops in price every November. In fact, last year was the best year I’d seen for PS5 deals.
The price of the PS5 and PlayStation accessories, including gaming headsets and Sony’s PSVR2, crashed to all-time lows. But will those prices be beaten for Black Friday 2026? It may be a tough ask, given that Sony hiked the price of all its consoles by nearly £100 in April.
Even with a hefty saving, you might still pay more than the old RRP. While Black Friday doesn’t officially take place until 27 November, Sony has already kicked off its PlayStation Store sale, with savings of up to 75 per cent on games. And while we’re still waiting for those PS5 deals to drop, I’ll be keeping a keen eye on PlayStation Direct in anticipation of offers on PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro and DualSense controllers.
Here’s everything to know. Read more: Best Black Friday deals to expect in 2026 When will PS5 Black Friday deals begin in 2026? For the past three years, PlayStation Direct has kicked off its official Black Friday sale a week before the eponymous day itself, which takes place on 27 November this year.
While I’m still waiting for Sony to announce its PlayStation Direct sale, when it’s expected to drop deals on the console and other peripherals, the gaming giant has already kicked off its PlayStation Store sale. Launching its savings on 4 November, you can now find discounts of up to 75 per cent on thousands of PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, expansions, and DLC. As for the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro itself?
In 2025, Argos, Currys and EE were already discounting the PS5 Pro a fortnight before Black Friday began. While Argos, Currys and Very have already launched their 2026 Black Friday sales, only the latter is currently offering discounts on PS5 bundles. That could very well change in the coming weeks.
Keep up to date with your favourite brands’ sales with our Black Friday tracker . Shop Play Station Store’s Black Friday sale now What are the best PS5 Black Friday deals to expect in 2026? Last year’s Black Friday sale was the biggest and best when it came to the PS5, with record-low prices on almost every console in the gaming giant’s arsenal.
Will the deals be just as good this year? I’d temper your expectations. As mentioned, in April 2026, Sony hiked the price of all three PS5 consoles by a whopping £90, blaming global RAM shortages and higher manufacturing costs due to global tariffs.
The PS5 slim with the disc drive was increased to £569.99, the PS5 Slim digital edition saw an increase to £519.99, and the PS5 Pro rose from £699.99 to an eye-watering £789.99. It’s also out of stock at several retailers. That means even with a hefty Black Friday discount, we might not see prices fall quite as low as they have done in previous years.
Still, to give you a flavour of the kind of discounts we saw in 2025, Argos slashed the PS5 Slim digital edition console to just £289.99 – a huge £140 saving. The retailer even threw in a free copy of EA Sports FC 26 . The PS5 Pro also fell to just £569.99 at Amazon and Argos, saving you £130.
There were loads of savings to be found at PlayStation Direct, too. Last year, £90 was sliced off the PS VR2 headset, while you could nab a £20 saving on the PlayStation Portal and get £20 off all of its DualSense controllers. I think games and accessories might get the heftiest discounts this year, with PS5 console prices being so sky-high right now.
Best PS5 deals to shop now PS5 Slim, refurbished While there are no deals on the PlayStation right now, if you want to save a bit of cash on the console, I’d recommend buying a refurbished model. PlayStation Direct is currently selling a refurbished PS5 Slim console for £429.99, which is the old RRP, saving you £90 if you bought the console new. Thirty per cent lighter and smaller than the OG PS5, it also features a 1TB SSD compared to the full-fat PS5’s 825GB SSD.
PlayStation 5 DualSense controller If you’ve already got a PS5 and are looking for a second (or third) controller, EE has snipped £11 off the rarely ever discounted DualSense gamepad. One of the best accessories you can own, it features incredible haptic feedback that brings games to life, and if you like to play couch co-op with your buddies, you’ll need more than one. PlayStation DualSense controller Available in rhythm blue, remix green or techno red, this DualSense controller gives you a colourful alternative to the classic white version.
It has all the same features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and a built-in microphone, so you can pick the colour you like without compromising on functionality. PlayStation 5 console & Marvel's 'Wolverine' bundle Of all the early bundle deals I’ve seen so far, this one from Smyths is among the best. In the deal, you get a PlayStation 5 slim disc console with 1TB of storage, as well as Marvel’s Wolverine game, which was released in September this year.
In his review of Marvel’s Wolverine , gaming correspondent Jake Brigstock awarded it four out of five stars and said that it delivered all the “gory, gritty and relentless combat” promised. The game usually costs about £70 but this bundle means you’ll get it for about £30 on top of the PS5’s usual price. '007 First Light' James Bond’s return to gaming after a 15-year hiatus has been a roaring success, and you can now pick up the deluxe edition of 007 First Light for half price in PlayStation’s Black Friday sale. Developed by the studio behind Hitman , the game follows a young Bond as he trains to become a 00 agent, It blends stealth, spycraft and explosive action.
“ 007 First Light is unquestionably the very best James Bond game to date and is right up there as a game of the year contender,” gaming correspondent Jake Brigstock wrote in his 007 First Light review . At £34.99, that’s a £35 saving on one of this year’s biggest releases. The deal ends on 20 November. 'Marvel's Wolverine' One of the biggest PS5 exclusives of 2026 has already had its price slashed for Black Friday, less than two months after launch.
Developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind Marvel’s Spider-Man , Marvel’s Wolverine puts you in the claws of the iconic X-Men character. “Marvel’s Wolverine is a great fast-paced, action-heavy linear superhero game that fulfills the Wolverine fantasy incredibly well,” gaming correspondent Jake Brigstock wrote in his Marvel Wolverine’s review . The digital deluxe edition has received a discount of more than £18 for Black Friday, with the deal ending on 20 November. 'Astro Bot' An oldie but a goodie, Astro Bot is one of the best family-friendly games on the PS5, and it has 29 per cent off in PlayStation’s Black Friday sale.
Released in 2024, the colourful 3D platformer sees an adorable little robot travel across different planets and galaxies, rescuing lost bots and rebuilding a broken mothership. “It’s superb, with innovative level design and mechanics that keep it feeling fresh from start to finish,” gaming correspondent Jake Brigstock wrote in his round-up of the best PS5 games . The deal ends on 20 November.
